Well met, my fellow fiberholics,
A friend has a chance at getting a 20-volume set of books call "Make it yourself: step by step guide to needlework and other crafts" that was published in the 1970s for a great price. She asked me if I know anything about this series. I am unfamiliar with it.
Does anyone know anything about this series, and is it worth the trouble of a 20-min. car ride to go get it? Can anyone recommend it?
Thanks

Re: step-by-step books from the 1970s
Mon, January 21, 2008 - 9:10 AMI'm not familiar with that particular one, but in my opinion it would be grand to have 'just because'... there aren't allot of changes that have happened over the years with knitting, crocheting etc.. but the patterns that are in the book can be 'updated' using different yarns and the like... I would do the 20 minute car ride! -

Sat, March 8, 2008 - 7:25 AMI cherish my 70's vintage Readers Digest Complete Guide to Needlework. It has the BEST (ignore the really ugly yarn) photos of interesting knitting, embroidery and crochett stitches, the tatting is a little light.

Re: step-by-step books from the 1970s
Sun, March 9, 2008 - 7:54 PMmy friend has about 5 books from that series. I love the crafts in there, so fun and there is a lot of great inspirations and great step by step instructions.
Yes worth the trip.
